Podcast Episode #16

HURRAY!
If you listen to just one podcast this term, MAKE THIS THE ONE! Everyone was in top form and presented great descriptions with very clearly thought out ideas.
Short, sharp, and a great indicator of how much the students have learned.

This Week's Certificate Winners!

As it is so important to recognise the successes in Room 18, we will now be posting the awards of the week online after they have been presented every Friday.

This week's winners are:

Star Student
Ryan for his incredible motivation during Jump Jam. His haka was amazing.

R.R.A.P
Min for his most excellent handwriting! Min has really improved his letter formation over the past couple weeks and it was about time that this got recognised! He has achieved so much already this term.

WAY TO GO, GUYS!

Mr. Nash

To The Parents...

Just a reminder that there is now a growing number of students in Room 18 who need a new 'Reading and Word Book' and/or 'Poem Book'. I have been sending the filled ones home to remind the students that they are to nag you until they come back to school with a new one! (-;

Without these books, the students will have nowhere to store their incredible work!

Thanks,
Mr. Nash

Term 4 Goal Setting

We sat down today and had a good chat about what we really wanted to achieve this term before heading off for the summer holidays. With 9 weeks to go, there are still a great deal of things that can be achieved. I asked the students to think of something specific that would be achieveable yet challenging. Just one thing that would make them incredibly happy upon reaching their goal. We are presenting these goals to you, the world, to help us keep on track and motivated. We want to share our successes with everyone! When we reach our goal, you can bet that we will be on here blogging about how pleased we are with ourselves! Parent Help

Hello all,

As we move into the last weeks of the school year, we will be shifting focus more towards the arts...there are several christmas crafts scheduled in already!
Throughout last term, many parents came to me and kindly offered their assistance with class projects. I am hoping to interest those parents in making an appearance once again in Room 18. Starting tomorrow, and likely every Friday, there will be arts projects that I could really use some help with. Tomorrow is black PVA flowers. If you have time to spare for the sake of some great arts projects, your help would be very much appreciated! If you are available on other days of the week, please let me know as well.

Thanks,
Mr. Nash

Transport Posters

During Term 3, the students were immersed in the world of transport. They carefully chose questions they wanted to know the answers to within the parameters of our 'Rich Question', "How have the changes in transport affected us- people and environment".
With the help of Mr. Nash, the students designed a poster using Microsoft Word to display the information they found. You will need Adobe Acrobat to view the posters. The good news is that your computer will likely already have it installed.
To view each group's posters, please click on the names of the students below.

Aaron and Ryan
Armani and Ruhi
Briar and Joshua H
Callum and Piper
Georgia and Grace
Isabella and James
Jalen and Ethan
Joshua V and Isaak
Karea and Nathan
Madeline and Min
Nicholas and Flynn
Nicole and Chanice

If you wait patiently, the transport posters should appear on your screen. If they do not appear, you can download Adobe Acrobat HERE for free. Alternatively, parents can drop by the classroom and check them out on the wall. (-:

Podcast Episode #14

Welcome back to school on the first day of Term 4!
You can listen to the first podcast of the term HERE.

Ginger on Holiday

So as the kids are all aware, Ginger the class bear was meant to spend the school holidays with Mr. Nash...AND WOW...what a holiday they had! They returned to Auckland feeling very sunny and much more rested. This is mostly due to the trip to Tonga and then onwards to Christchurch before returning home to Auckland. While Tonga provided Ginger with a great chance to lay back on the beach and eat tasty treat foods, Mr. Nash was off climbing trees in search of ripe coconuts.
When Ginger arrived in Christchurch, Mr. Nash suggested Ginger come to the gym with him to burn off some of that fat. The results speak for themselves...you'll notice Ginger looking MUCH more trim in front of the fountain at the Christchurch Botanical Gardens. Unfortunately, Ginger has regained most of his bear-weight. That's alright, I think everybody agrees we love Ginger all the same! (-: Ginger did happen to mention that he was on the lookout for Callum (who was also in Christchurch during the holidays). No Callum-sightings this holiday though!
Above are the pictures taken throughout the holidays. Apologies for the random way in which the pictures have been posted. You can enlarge the pictures, especially for the one where Ginger is hidden somewhere on the Bridge of Remembrance, by clicking just once on the photo.
