Such an action packed last day in Room 18!
But now the kids have taken all their belongings home and Room 18 sits empty for the holidays....or is there a bear on guard duty? (-;
A big thank-you to all the parents who have helped out over the term and also to those parents who came to see me over the course of the week to say lots of lovely things to me. (-:
Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday,
Mr. Nash

Christmas Baking
So today, thanks to the help from a team of very awesome parents, Room 18 did some last minute baking in the Food Tech room. We made shortbread cookies!
At the request of the students, below is the recipe to make these tasty treats at home over the holidays.

The Room 18 Christmas Tree

I've heard from many people that Room 18's Christmas Tree was the BEST one at the annual Hobsonville Christmas Tree Festival (also known by other names...). I completely agree. I think our PVA glitter snowmen and our sparkly felt spiral trees decorated with pom poms and reindeer are INCREDIBLE. Here is a picture of our tree in the auditorium on the night of the carols.

Ho Ho Ho...To The North Pole It Will Go!

In Term 3 and 4, Room 18 students have been working on persuasive writing and recounts. In a Room 18 'first', the students wrote letters to Santa explaining all the ways they've been good this year and just exactly why Santa should be bringing them their top 3 presents.
We've done those disgusting, dirty, slimy dishes all year...we've taken out the rubbish to the bin on the street...we've even put out those incredibly heavy placemats onto the table NIGHT after NIGHT after NIGHT. And now it's our turn to remind Santa of all that hard work.
So Santa, if you're reading this, our letters are in the mail. You'll receive them soon. We are hoping for a reply within a week. But what we're really looking forward to is that Barbie Island Princess, the Australian jet fighter, the Ben 10 watch, or the Polly Pocket Polly-Tastic Triple Decker Party Bus under our tree on Christmas morning. And while trying to SAY 'Polly Pocket Polly-Tastic Triple Decker Party Bus' is quite a difficult thing to do (let alone WRITE it correctly!), we're sure your elves will know EXACTLY how to make it!
Thanks Santa. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Above is a photo of our envelope. This should help you find our writing easily amongst all those other letters that you receive around this time of year. (-;
